As an evidence-based programme under LivingWorks, the structure and content of safeTALK will remain unchanged. While the content does not specifically incorporate studies about the community in focus, the participants are from the same community with shared experiences. There is opportunity for the participants to connect with one another through questions and answers.
This series is conducted in 3 intakes each with different communities.
For the first run for autistic and neurodivergent community, we have included:
- Designated calm space
- Speech to text interpretation to provide multiple means of accessing information
- Community support person who identifies as part of the community
- Autistic mentor to the trainer in the development of the programme to set up a conducive learning environment
We understand that neurodiversity is a broad umbrella. We also understand that many do not have official diagnosis but identify with the community in terms of the barriers they face in society. Hence, we do not require proof of neurotype or diagnosis for you, or the person under your care. We go by honour system and appeal that registrants respect this.
We would however be asking for information of your affiliation to the community in focus in order to let the trainer understand the composition of the participants. This will be an optional field in the registration form.
